DEMONSTRATIVE PRONOUNS

In English we use two types of demonstrative pronouns.

  1. this/these
  2. that/those

1. THIS/THESE

We use THIS for singular and THESE  fot plural.

Use:

a) to talk about people or thing(s) near us:

This is a nice song.

This is my car.

These are nice houses.

Whose shoes are these

b) to introduce people:

This is Albert.

This is my uncle.

These are my friends.

Who are these people?

2.THAT/THOSE

We use THAT for singular and THOSE for plural.

Use:

a) to talk about people or thing(s) NOT near us:

That is beautiful.

Look at that girl!

I don't like those cars.

Those were good times.
